Advantages of DeLonghi Heaters

DeLonghi offers three different types of space heaters: oil-filled, ceramic, and fan heaters. With nine current oil-filled heater models, they are best known for this type of space heater. The DeLonghi heaters have several advantages over other brands.

Easy Setup

One of the biggest advantages of DeLonghi heaters is that most can be set up easily and quickly. Larger models often have pre-assembled wheels which snap into place, requiring no tools or hassle. The heaters can be moved from room to room as needed, and the wheels allow for easy placement throughout the home. The control panel is easy to understand and use, and the heater can be set up in a minimal amount of time. Considering the size of the oil-filled radiator heaters, the quick setup is a tremendous advantage over comparable models.

Lightweight

Disadvantages of DeLonghi Heaters

DeLonghi space heaters have many advantages for the resident or homeowner. The most popular design for DeLonghi heaters is the oil-filled radiator design, and that design can sometimes have disadvantages as well.

Noise

One of the most frequent complaints about the DeLonghi oil-filled radiator space heaters is the noise. Owners report that the thermostat sometimes makes a loud clicking noise, and that the noise of the fan is often loud enough to keep residents awake. Some owners report that the unit makes a loud popping noise during fan operation. Due to this noise, many owners will not use a DeLonghi heater for their bedroom, even when the noise is not a problem in a living room or bathroom.

Poor Thermostat Design

While most DeLonghi heaters have two or three different heat settings, they do not come with a temperature-measured thermostat. This is one of the more annoying disadvantages of DeLonghi heaters and can present a problem, as it makes it impossible to set the temperature accurately on the unit.

Poor Customer Service

Several dissatisfied customers have reported problems with customer service after the sale. There have been complaints that DeLonghi makes it very difficult for customers to have warranty service performed, and the warranty itself mandates that the customer pay the cost of shipping the unit to the warranty service center, which can be a costly proposition on a 20-22 pound item. Some customers report that warranty service on DeLonghi heaters is not performed by DeLonghi but through a contracted repair center, and the quality of these repair centers can vary.

Oil Leaks

This is one of the disadvantages of DeLonghi heaters that could cause damage or be hazardous. The oil-filled radiator models are designed to have a permanently sealed oil compartment, but some customers have complained that their DeLonghi radiators leaked oil onto their flooring, doing permanent damage to carpet. The oil used in the oil-filled radiators can cause damage to hardwood flooring as well if the leak is not immediately detected. Additionally, since the oil compartment is intended to be permanently sealed, it is impossible to refill the unit with oil; therefore, an oil leak in the DeLonghi radiators can render the unit inoperable.

Poor Shipping

It is likely that the problems with the oil compartment are caused not by manufacturer error but by poor quality shipping. Several customers have reported problems with poor packaging, resulting in damage to the unit upon receipt. Customers report that the units are shipped in a large box with minimal stuffing, and some owners report visible damage to the heater as soon as they remove it from the box. It is therefore likely that some of the problems associated with the unit (the noise and oil leaks) may be the result of shoddy shipping rather than poor manufacturing.

Some customers are completely satisfied with their DeLonghi heaters, but reports do contain problems pointing to the disadvantages of DeLonghi heaters. Since many of these problems are readily apparent with the first use, a wise consumer should purchase their DeLonghi oil-filled radiator heaters from a reputable company with an excellent return policy.
